Every day with Jesus
Bible Camp has its purposes.
One such purpose is reflection.
We all benefit from time to allow God to evaluate the past in our presence. I've had a bit of that time while ministering at Bethany Bible Camp in rural Bemidji, MN.
I'm preaching four messages from Romans in the evenings this week, seeking to establish a solid foundation for salvation among the 60+ mostly church-going senior high students. I want to eliminate the vague, spiritualized optimism and replace it with a steadfast expectation of salvation by grace through faith in Christ's death and resurrection.
In the mornings I'm teaching some "renewing of the mind," examining evidence for the existence of God (three proofs this AM), teaching how to discuss important topics with others, and answering some difficult questions posed by these young believers and seekers.
Today in my quiet time I came across an old friend again, Psalm 112:6-8a: For the righteous will never be moved, he will be remembered forever. He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. His heart is stady; he will not be afraid.
I pray that is your claim today, friend. I'll see you Sunday. God has you- and me- where we are for a reason. Give your day to Him and...
...go serve your King!
