Off to Bemidji

I'm taking a bit of a break as I finish off my messages tomorrow for Bethany Bible Camp on Grace Lake near Bemidji, MN, the place of my birth.  I will be preaching four messages from Romans in the evenings, helping the campers be exact and living in their faith. I will kick off the week with a message from 2 Peter 3 on Saturday night, and teach four sessions on how to think and talk about major questions young followers of Christ face as they interact with peers and college professors.

The highlight of the week will be when my cousin Bryan shows up to pose as a college prof who is out to destory the faith of young Christians. Bryan has a MS in Microbiology, is missing one leg and carries a 7 handicap on the golf course. Unbelievable. He now runs our family business, Northwoods Log Homes, with his mom and dad, my closest aunt and uncle. My grandfather started NWLH over 50 years ago when he figured out the machine he designed to turn logs for his own home could be used to make money.

That little presentation should get the attention of the campers.

Or get me fired before I even get a mircophone.

I love engaging youth because they are generally willing to be engaged- whether they agere with you or not. Pretense builds with age, and becomes the enemy of the soul as far as change goes.

So pray for me, and go serve your King!

PS- Paul Bunyan is a tall tale, of course, but fun to look at in Bemidji and Akeley. Bemidji is above. The Akeley version has a palm in which you can stand for pictures. Both bear an uncanny resemblance to Sioux Falls' own Mr. Bendo.
