Some of you know that I've got a bit of a "basketball jones," so to speak, and it kicks into high gear this time of year.

I coached before going into full time ministry and I have a lot of friends in the biz today. I still do some scouting and a little coaching in the summer, and while I once worshiped basketball as a false God, I now enjoy it freely as a way of Proclaiming the Living Word and Serving the Living God.

That's a long way of saying that we're on vacation for a week to attend the Girls' State AA tourney in Rapid City, where my good friend and Christian brother Lynn Frederick is playing with the Brookings Bobcats. After the tourney we will be visiting my mother in Lake Preston, along with my sister, who is home from the west coast. Should be a restful week, and we all need that. 

In my absence Pastor Michael Brandt, from our sister congregation Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church, will be preaching both this Sunday and next Wednesday. Don't miss it!
